Pumpkin Racing is a whimsical and inventive sport that began in 2008 as a creative way for farmers to use their oversized pumpkins. These enormous gourds, some weighing over 400 kilograms, are hollowed out and transformed into makeshift kayaks for racing. Participants paddle their pumpkin kayaks across a body of water, battling not only their competitors but also the unpredictable nature of their unconventional vessels. Steering these massive pumpkins is no easy task, as they tend to spin in circles rather than move forward. Despite the challenges, Pumpkin Racing has grown into a beloved tradition that combines ingenuity, humor, and a healthy dose of competitive spirit.
