Hand creams and lotions typically have a shelf life of one to two years. You can find the expiration date on the back of the packaging, often indicated by a symbol of an open container with "12M" or "24M," where "M" stands for months.

Expired hand cream may develop an unpleasant smell and lose its effectiveness in hydrating your skin. It’s best to replace old cream with a fresh jar or tube.
