4. The potential for cysts
Vaginal and vulvar cysts can appear unexpectedly, but most are harmless and resolve on their own.
Vaginal cysts form on the inner walls of the vagina and are usually painless, while vulvar cysts appear on the outer folds and can sometimes be tender. They may result from blocked glands or ingrown hairs.
For small cysts, try a warm sitz bath to soothe the area. However, if a cyst becomes painful, red, swollen, or causes fever, consult a doctor for proper treatment.
